This article originally announced a special football night for the start of the season. Kickoff was scheduled for 2:20 AM local time, almost three hours after our regular closing time. It also introduced our Unlock Event concept: the sports bar would only have opened that night if enough guests registered for free in advance.
NFL live in Wiesbaden – even in the middle of the night
If you're watching the NFL from Germany, you know the deal: the early Sunday games kick off at 7 PM local time and fit the evening perfectly, but the big ones – Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football and the playoffs – start somewhere between 2 and 3 AM.
For a sports bar, a 2:20 AM kickoff means extra hours, extra staff and extra preparation without knowing whether five or fifty fans will show up.
That was the background to the Unlock Event concept introduced by AAB: for selected games outside regular hours, free registrations were intended to show in advance whether there was enough demand for a late-night opening.
How the Unlock Event was planned
For the game outside our regular hours, guests could RSVP for free with no strings attached. Every person on a booking counted towards the shared goal.
🏈 At 20 guests, we would have opened. The NFL night would have gone ahead once at least 20 people had registered.
🍔 At 40 guests, a Gameday menu was planned. At 40 registrations, we intended to add a dedicated late-night food offer.
The required 20 registrations were not reached. The event was therefore cancelled and registered guests were notified.
Seahawks vs. Patriots: the planned kickoff event
The plan was to show the 2026 NFL Kickoff Game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

The idea behind the concept
At the time of publication, Seahawks vs. Patriots was intended as the first test of the Unlock Event concept. The idea was to use free registrations for selected primetime and playoff games outside regular hours, so demand for a late-night opening was clear in advance.
The minimum was not reached for September 10, so the planned night did not take place. Any future special openings will be listed on our live sports page.

Regular-season NFL games are on at AAB as always. The early Sunday slate at 7 PM local time is the perfect fit for a night out at the bar. Burgers, wings, loaded fries, craft beer on tap and multiple screens are as much a part of gameday here as touchdowns and RedZone.
